While the list of homes will not be released for security reasons until just before the […]

Last Chance to See King Tut

If you planned to see the King Tut exhibit — Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia, you have only a few more days as the exhibit closes at the end of this month.
It’s a great exhibit (see my previous post) and one that […]

Not Your Typical Maryland Crab Boil

Crabbing for the Maryland Blue Crab has long been associated with the Chesapeake.  And the newspaper-covered picnic table piled high with spicy steamed crabs has just as long of a history.  But we can’t limit ourselves to just “pickin’ crab” and crabcakes. …at least that’s what a dozen area top chefs are out to prove at […]

It’s Fashion Week!

No, not in New York or Pairs…In Washington, DC.
While I doubt we’ll be seeing a flock of Hollywood celebrities, the top paid super models such as Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss or Heidi Klum strutting their stuff on the runway, or global controversies over 13-year old models on the runway, but you will get an opportunity to […]

Gridlock…

No, not on the latest Iraq War funding bill, but once again, the DC region has been singled out for its traffic issues.

Alexandria International Film Festival

It seems Washington DC has become an International film festival center.
There’s the big DC International Film Festival, the DC Independent Film Festival, the African-American FF, the Asian Pacific FF, DC Shorts FF, the Environmental Film Festival, and the list goes on.
This festival schedule features local indie, student, several movies that have never been screened in DC, a coupe […]

Girls Night Out

Call it “girl bonding“. Call it “pampering yourself“.   Maybe you call it simply “Shopping!!”(with a CAPITAL “S”).  From the male perspective, it’s probably a “man’s idea of hell”.
Regardless of what you all it, it’s Shecky’s Girls Night Out — five hours of girly fashion, beauty, glamour, shopping, cocktails, chit-chat, freebies and fun.
Handbags, jewelry, […]

The History of the Millennium…???

One of my favorite things to do on a Sunday morning was to grab my copy of the Washington Post and turn to the last page of the Post’s magazine and read Dave Barry’s humor column.  That joy has gone since Dave stopped writing his column in 2005, but he still delights his readers by […]

My Kind of Town…

Combine murder, adultery, a gaggle of hungry tabloid reporters, a couple of wanna-be starlets, along with a slick lawyer and what do you get? No, I’m not talking about Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan or one of the other Hollywood train wrecks.  This is the story of Roxie Hart and her dream of fame on the stage in […]
