The ten day long Capital Pride Festival celebrates Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community pride. There’s dances, parties, events, and a Mr. and Miss Capital Pride competition (complete with judging for pride attire, talent, formal wear/evening gown and interviews). There’s also some good cause fund-raising including a bachelor and bachelorette auction with restaurant certificates, theater tickets and more. Join the National Symphony at the annual National Memorial Day Concert which this year, commemorates the 62nd anniversary of the battle for Iwo Jima. The concert will also pay tribute to the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, and to their families left behind.

National Memorial Day Parade

The parade will feature close to 200 groups including marching bands, active duty and retired military units, youth groups and floats, plus hundreds of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom veterans. The United States Air Force will also conduct a flyover.
