DC’s Cherry Blossom Update
On Sunday (3/24/08), I walked the Tidal Basin and parts of the National Mall in Washington, DC, checking on the status of the cherry tree blossoms.
The buds on only one or two trees were just starting to open. But the tulips were and a few of the other trees are in full bloom, especially at the Smithsonian Castle garden.
The next two weekends should be spectacular!

This was one of the only cherry tree blossoms I saw around Tidal Basin that were blooming on Sunday.

What’s the status of the blooms now. Planning on visiting this weekend 3/29/08, but don’t want to show up if not much to see. Your pictures are beautiful
Today’s Washington Post had a front page photo of a cherry tree in full bloom. You should have some pretty good blooms this weekend.
According to the National Park Service, the 2008 peak bloom forecast is from March 27 until April 3.
Please tell me the status of the cherry blossoms in Washington, DC as of today, April 7th.

The trees are in full bloom, but the weekend winds did knock a few of the blooms off. But they are still spectacular.
Tomorrow might be a better day, with more sunshine, less wind and a bit warmer temps predicted.
what is the status of the cherry blossoms after todays rain and wind?
Will any trees be in bloom April 22-23?
Loretta: A few blooms might still be remaining on the trees next week. But don’t expect the trees to be in full bloom.
